When Grief Lingers: Finding Strength While Healing

GRIEFHEALING

Grief doesn’t always come loud.

Sometimes it settles quietly between your breaths… in the pauses of your day… in the moments when the world keeps moving, but your heart still feels tender. So whether you’re cooking with love, healing from the inside out, or simply catching your breath… you belong at this table of healing.

We’re holding space for something tender: GRIEF. Before we go any further, take a deep breath with me and repeat this with me... “I honor my grief without letting it define me. I am healing at my own pace. God is near to me even in my sorrow. Joy will return, and until then, I am held.”

Let that sit with you for a moment!

Grief Isn’t Always About Death

Sometimes grief is the loss of:

  • a loved one

  • a relationship

  • a dream

  • a version of yourself

  • or a season you thought would last longer

One of the hardest parts of grief is feeling like you’re supposed to be “over it” by now. But grief doesn’t run on schedule. Healing doesn’t move in a straight line, and God is not rushing you.

Psalm 34:18 reminds us: “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” If you’re still hurting, it doesn’t mean you’re weak. It means you loved deeply… and that love mattered.

Healing Does Not Mean Forgetting

Here’s the truth no one talks about enough: Overcoming grief doesn’t mean forgetting. It means learning how to breathe again while carrying the memories. Grief changes shape over time. What once felt unbearable slowly becomes something you can hold without breaking.

And sometimes healing looks like:

  • getting out of bed on a hard day

  • laughing and then feeling guilty about it

  • trusting God while your heart still aches

  • choosing to keep going one gentle step at a time

Ecclesiastes 3:4 says: “There is a time to weep and a time to laugh.” Both can exist in the same season. You do not have to wait until you are fully healed to be strong. Sometimes strength shows up right in the middle of grief… not after it.

God Does Not Waste Pain

Even here. Even now. God is still building compassion, resilience, wisdom, and depth within you. You are not behind... You are not broken... You are becoming...

And if today all you could do was pause long enough to read these words, breathe deeply, or simply keep moving forward… that is enough. You do not have to rush your healing. You do not have to explain your tears. And you do not have to walk this journey alone. Take it: one breath, one prayer, and one gentle step at a time.

 A Prayer for the Brokenhearted

"Lord, Thank You for meeting us in the quiet places of grief. Thank You for holding us when words fail and strength feels low. Heal the brokenhearted. Restore what has been lost. Give us peace that passes understanding and hope for tomorrow. Help us trust You even when the ache remains. We place our sorrow in Your hands, knowing You carry us gently. In Jesus’ Name, Amen."

Final Thoughts from the Soul Table

Grief does not mean you are failing. It means you loved. You hoped. You showed up fully. And even in your quiet moments, God is still working, still healing, and still holding you close.

Thank you for sitting at the table with me today!
